Frank D'Andrea Interview

You have this wild, sort of confrontational style of performing your poems.
Where did it come from?

I don't know what the fuck you mean.

Didn't you break your arm at a reading once?

Actually, I dislocated my knee at a reading in Seattle. I had just been
introduced to the audience in the bookstore where I was reading when I bowed
deeply, grabbed a footstool, and charged outside across two lanes of
traffic. Once on the opposite curb, I set up the stool and climbed to the
top step. As I pivoted around, I threw my knee out and fell three feet to
the ground screaming in pain. From across the street, I could hear the
crowd was pleased with my performance.

How often do you you write these days?

Every day. (LIAR). Well, once every free moment I get.

Who are your favorite writers?

F.T. Marinetti
Diamanda Galas
Kurt Schwitters
Howard Zinn
William S. Burroughs

Are you one of those people who are always listening in on what others are
talking about?

No. I fucking can't stand people and their "Baaaaahhhh---Baaaaaahhhh"
bleats.

What mechanical device produces a sound closest to poetry?

Jackhammer

What's your favorite kid's show?

Teletubbies
